Senior Underwriter Marine

Overview

Senior Underwriter in our Madrid Marine Cargo team drives profitable growth by underwriting new and renewal business and maintaining strong broker/client relationships. You will act as the primary AXA XL interface for brokers and clients, shaping a portfolio aligned with the Business Plan. You’ll assess risk from submissions, determine premiums, and support risk management discussions with clients. The role sits within a collaborative, cross-functional environment focused on sustainable growth and client satisfaction. This is an opportunity to influence marine cargo underwriting at scale within a global insurer.

Responsabilidades

• Review submissions (applications, policy wordings, loss runs, financial reports) to assess risk per account
• Calculate risk-appropriate premiums considering sector risk, reinsurance cessions, and costs to ensure profitability
• Advise, service, and follow up with brokers/clients on insurance and risk management matters
• Manage relationships to enable cross-selling and account retention
• Ensure timely implementation of new and renewed accounts per quality standards
• Support business planning and forecasting; monitor financial exposure and premium income
• Monitor claims and provide input on settlements when advised

Requisitos principales

• University Degree and knowledge in maritime industry
• Knowledge of insurance fundamentals with proven experience in marine/cargo underwriting
• Proficiency in English and Spanish
• Selling and negotiation techniques; ability to influence customers
